RaceCue help
Support
Setup guidance and quick answers for starter audio, sensors, reaction timing, video, Competition Pressure, sessions, and Premium access.
Getting started
Run a simple start
Choose a starter language and voice, open Start Setup if you want to change the pacing or signal, set the walk-to-blocks delay, and tap the large start dial. Use Stop / abort at any point to cancel the sequence.
Use the Take Tour guide
Take Tour opens a guided overview of the main dial, starter voices, Start Setup, camera tools, Reaction Practice, Competition Pressure, sessions, and display options. The tour button is disabled while a start is running.
Starter audio and Bluetooth
I cannot hear the starter commands
Turn up media volume and tap Unlock Audio once if it appears. On iPhone, the installed RaceCue app is configured for training playback and can play through the silent switch, but zero media volume still prevents sound. Use the TEST button beside a starter persona and preview the selected start signal before training.
A Bluetooth speaker sounds delayed
Wireless speaker delay and range vary with the phone, speaker, distance, obstacles, and interference. Connect the speaker before opening the training screen, test the complete sequence at close range, and keep the start phone near the athlete when accurate reaction to the audible signal matters.
Bluetooth timing is suitable for repeatable training feedback, not certified competition timing.
A language voice falls back to a beep or device voice
Preview the recorded persona from Voices. If the installed app still plays an older sound, rebuild or reinstall the newest RaceCue version so the latest bundled audio is copied to the phone.
Camera detection, torch, and start video
The camera is unavailable
Allow Camera permission in phone settings. Mount the phone on a stable support around 2–4 metres from the athlete, frame the athlete side-on, use steady lighting, and choose the front or rear camera. Start Detection, Start Video, and the torch cannot operate together because they share the camera hardware.
Start Detection does not arm
Make sure the athlete is clearly visible and the phone is not moving. Standard sensitivity is the recommended starting point. High reacts to smaller changes and requires greater stillness; Low tolerates more background movement and vibration.
Camera reaction timing does not detect the first movement
Enable Camera reaction timing separately from hands-free auto-start. Keep the whole start movement inside the frame, avoid backlighting, and wait for the ready status before starting. Camera estimates depend on frame rate and normally have lower precision than certified starting-block systems.
Start video will not save
Prepare Start Video before the sequence and allow Camera plus optional Microphone access. After the rep, preview Latest start video and choose Save video. On iPhone, allow RaceCue to add the video to Photos when asked. In a browser, RaceCue may use the system share sheet or a file download instead.
Reaction Practice and false starts
How should I use Movement mode?
For a stationary reaction drill, hold the phone firmly in either hand and drive that hand at GO. For a full sprint start, secure the phone safely to the upper arm or waist so it cannot fall or affect running form. Calibrate while still before beginning.
Why can a reaction result be below 100 ms?
Track rules use force measured by certified starting-block equipment. RaceCue estimates movement from a phone sensor, touch, or camera and can be affected by placement, thresholds, frame rate, device delay, and movement before the audible signal reaches the athlete. Treat the value as a training trend, not an official false-start ruling.
The movement sensor is too sensitive or too slow
Recalibrate on a stable surface or while holding the phone in its exact training position. Increase sensitivity if clear movement is missed; reduce sensitivity when vibration or settling triggers an early response.
Competition Pressure and interruptions
What does intensity change?
Low uses quiet ambience and fewer random distractions. Medium adds more varied sounds between commands. High allows the widest variety and some sounds nearer Set while protecting the official commands and gun. Pressure is off by default.
How do recalled starts, Stand Up, and misfires work?
Each interruption has its own probability and RaceCue chooses at most one interruption for a repetition. A recalled start plays the selected recall signal. Random Stand Up and a gun misfire play the appropriate response and stop the sequence; restart manually when the athlete is ready.
Can I use my own environment?
Use the custom recording controls to capture one looping background environment and one trackside distraction. Keep official commands clearly audible and do not record people without permission.
Structured repetitions and coach sessions
How do structured repetitions continue?
Choose the number of starts and recovery time, then begin the program. After each completed or interrupted start, RaceCue remains in focus mode and counts down the next repetition. Attention cues play during longer recovery periods, followed by the final 10-second countdown.
How do I leave a structured session?
Use End session in focus mode. It remains available beside the main Stop / abort controls so you can exit without completing every planned repetition.
What can a coach save?
A coach session can include athlete names, lanes, automatic or manual times, notes, start outcomes, and local session history. Use the available export control when you want a file outside RaceCue.
Data, permissions, and deletion
Camera, microphone, motion, recordings, and training history remain local unless you deliberately save, share, or export a file. Delete custom recordings from their recording controls and clear history from Sessions. Removing the app and its data clears remaining local information; saved photos, videos, or exports must be deleted separately.
